After a nice review by ms sis, i tried this resto last weekend.... As the name stated, it's a grill resto. What makes it different than the other is that they give us a hot stone to cook our own meat.

The food
1. Mushroom Soup (Rp. 15.000)
It's the blended mushroom type. Thick black mushroom soup with milk a garlic bread on the side. WEIRD!!! Kinda sour, not creamy and i can't taste the mushroom.


2. Oriental chicken salad (Rp. 35.000)
Nothing special but pricey....

3. Gralic bread (Rp. 12.000)
The best appetizer....

4. BBQ wings (Rp. 18.000)
Standard issue wings... Again, nothing special...


5. Chicken strips (Rp. 27.000)
It tastes the same as the ones u bought at the supermarket. The french fries is over-fried...

6. Beef risoles (Rp. 12.000)
Standad issue risoles... Tired of eating pasar stuffs in a stupid restaurant


7. Spaghetti bolognese (Rp. 35.000)
I dunno why but my sis and cousin really liked this dish. My personal opinion? One of the worst spaghetti i've ever eaten....



8. Black angus rump steak (Rp. 99.000)
YUMMYLICIOUS!!!! My first encounter with a black angus.... Quite cheap i think (maybe because it's rump....) Think but tender, it was so damn good... Unfortunately the mushroom sauce is kinda salty...



Note: Don't bother ordering anything but the steaks....

Raa Cha Suki

A new suki restaurant in Pluit Village a.k.a Megamal.....

I just had the most embarrassing experience... My money is not enough to pay the bill!!!! I thought they accept credit card but apparently they don't (maybe coz it's new) and they don't accept debit BCA either..... I called everyone i knew hoping they'd be in MM so I could borrow some money but the -staring across the window- thingy was useless. In the end, i had to go back to GF to the ATM..

The food

The suki stuffs are pretty much the same as the others. Varieties of meatballs, pangsit, suikiaw, mushrooms and veggies... The different is u order them per piece instead of portion. The price is not as cheap as i predicted, one suki stuff costs around Rp. 3.000 - Rp. 6.000 (per piece). The soup is delicious (lots of MSG i guess...)

The BBQ stuffs is very limited. Only beef BBQ (sweet, salty and spicy) and Chicken (Sweet, salty and spicy) but they taste quite delicious... I think they taste like Gang Gang Sulai's

U can boil and grill what you've chosen on a mini pan and mini pot available on each table. It's quite fun how u cook ur food on mini cookware xD

Chika -The Indonesian Movie Cliches-

Liburan kali ini gw awali dengan nonton maraton di bioskop yang lage happening abis di ibukota.... Pluit Junction XXI (ga penting ya?) Stela gw ngebolos 2 mata kul dengan sukses nya, gw memutuskan untuk nonton di PJ.

Rencana awal adalah nonton Bangkok Dangerous.... Males ngereview nya.... ga penting... secara gw uda ga demen ama nicholas cage... plus ni film kok ga jelas... mo sadis nanggung, mau seru juga nanggung, mau keren jelas ga dapet. Serba nanggung de

Film kedua adalah Chika. Chika tuh film indo... Nah gw juga ga tau cerita nya, tapi poster nya lumayan sering keliatan. Plus Ade gw uda ngebet berat nonton ni film... Alhasil abis kluar Bangkok Dangerous, langsung beli tiket Chika en masuk nonton lagi.

Selama gw nonton, gw uda pengen banget ngoceh!!! Ni film kok ga penting abisssss trus plagiarism kelas kakap. Uda kaya , I'm in Love dicampur sama komedi ala dorama Jepang plus sedikit sentuhan hollywood. Banyak banget scene yang ga penting en ga masuk akal. Lalu banyak banget pendramatisiran yang seharusnya ga perlu... Masa dalam 1 film drama komedi remaja ada kira-kira 4 adegan ujan ujanan. Mulai dari kejar-kejaran pas ujan, nangis pas lage ujan, duduk di bawah ujan en ujan ujan laen nya. Buset de..... Ngabisin aer aja...

Dan tak lupa..... cliche cliche laen nya...

1. 99% film indo yg gw tonton setting nya pasti di ruma yang keren abis dengan tata letak ala designer houses. Trus gede abis (padahal yg tinggal cuma ber 2 en max 4 orang) plus kolam renang dan tak lupa taman yang luas. Gw ga ngerti, apakah ini kerjaan nya produser yang menjual mimpi (gw perna baca di mana gtu kalo produser sengaja bikin sinetron selalu yang wah en lebai berat karena orang-orang tertarik yg model gtu. kaya dream comes true gtu de intinya) ato emank smua penulis script indo itu cuma bisa bikin script yang background nya upper-middle class (in my opinion, bukan upper middle lage tapi upper en upper class kale ya)

2. Mobil..... Dari BMW ampe porsche smua perna nongol.... boro boro de liat mobil sejuta umat macem innova ato avanza.. liat jazz aja jarang... Tadi di Chika, ada BMW 2 en Benz 1. Plus sebuah jazz pink, terrano item en sbuah wagon tapi gw ga tau merk nya. Smua nya dipake ama anak SMA!!! Masuk akal ga seh...... Bahkan film hollywood aja kalo masi highschool gtu mobil nya rada butut...

3. Suasana kamar. Smua kamar tokoh utama cewe pasti punya colour theme... Dalam kasus Chika warnya pink. SMUA NYA PINK!!!! Dari bed cover, boneka, wallpaper en segala macem pernak pernik kamar yang ga penting..... dan semua nya uda tersusun rapi kaya buat pameran apartment. Kalo tokoh utama cowo, walopun ga punya colour theme tapi tetep... kaya ada aja kamar cowo beneran yg serapih en sekeren kamar di film film itu!!

4. Komputer. SMUA nya pake LCD en biasa nya apple (biar keren kale ya....) dan tak lupa laptop yang colourful

5. Perabotan rumah. Again.... High tech kitchen + Huge plasma TV everywhere + Super comfy luxury couches + cool and trendy lamps + bunga dimana mana

6. Kalo sarapan, selalu keluarga bahagia bersama. Ayah, ibu dan anak2 duduk bersama di meja makan sambil mengoles selai pada roti ato makan sereal. Kadang-kadang nasi goreng pake telor en tak lupa susu segar dan orange juice. KAPAN SEKOLAH NYA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Emank nya sekola di kebon belakang rumah? Gela aja pagi pagi sempet sempet nya chit chat dulu sambil morning coffee druma....

Kita masuk ke cliche non setting... Dari segi cerita... Banyak banget film indo yang ujung ujung nya nyeritain tentang abg cewe polos nan naif tapi cantik, imut dan menggoda. Tu cewe pasti dikejar ama cowo paling populer di sekola yang keren nan tampan. Lalu si cewe awal nya benci banget ama tu cowo tapi ujung2nya dia menyadari kalo tu cowo nyebelin tu adalah cinta sejati nya.... Lalu di tengah kisah cinta nah romantis itu, ada cowo en cewe cakep en keren laen nya yang juga suka ama pasangan main character itu.... and in the end.... they kiss..... cliche cliche cliche

Lalu.... ini juga cliche berat!!! SHOOTING DI LUAR NEGERI!!!!!!!! WTF!!!!!!!!! Mulai dari Paris, trus SF en trakir si Chika ni di Venice! Lalu juga ada Kairo en Malaysia.... Emank nya orang kalo pacaran en jatuh cinta harus selalu di luar negri ya? Ga realistis banget sehhhhhh

Cliche laen nya adalah sekolah. Rata-rata pake putih abu abu (padahal hare gene, smuki aja uda ga putih abu abu standard.....) Lalu di skul negri yang notabene biasa biasa aja, bisa ada prom night fabulous lah, acara school dance yang uda kaya party di Manhattan dan acara acara laen nya yang cuma ada di alam mimpi. Masa bikin acara pesta ulang tahun sekola, anak anaknya smua pake dress en high heels (dalam kasus chika high heel nya JIMMY CHOO!!) penting ga?!!!!!!!!

Gela ni perfilman indo..... kapan seh bisa ada film yang realistis..... ga usa seh ampe bikin film yang setting nya perkampungan miskin di tenga gunung terpencil... cuma jangan lebai aja... biasa biasa aja la.....

Sindroma Tante-Tante Medan

Hari ini adalah hari terakir gw ngelesin (yippeeee!!!!!) Nah, sejak hari selasa kmaren, my dear bos a.k.a Ko Suli tuh lage foto pre-wed di Jogja (mungkin dia mo foto di borobudur kale ya.....) alhasil, tampuk kepemimpinan Galaksi jato ke tangan gw (hahahah.... yeah lebai... i know....)

Berhubung uda mo libur, gw seh uda ga minat ngajar.... dan begitu juga dengan guru guru laen (yang gw curigai sebagai penyebab utama gw harus megang 2 kelas dalam 3 hari terakir... shit....) Pas gw uda mo mulai ngajar (by ngajar i meant cerdas cermat ala Mr. Aris), tiba tiba dateng lah sesosok tante-tante medan. Let's just refer her as Tante M. This is not the first time i saw Tante M at Galaksi, but usually i just ignore her.... Today, she seemed a bit lost (looking for Ko Suli maybe) and then she called me.

Percakapan dengan Tante M dimulai dengan dia menanyakan no telp......

Nomor telpon...... ESTER!!!! (pasti pada uda mo ngegosip kalo tante tante minta nomor gw de.... )

Lalu percakapan berlanjut (selama stega jam ke depan) dengan dia nanya-nanya profil guru-guru di Galaksi. Tidak lupa dengan komentar pribadinya (thank God dia ga ngomongin gw.... apa mungkin dia ga tau nama gw?)

Lalu, ke problem utama hari ini...

Dia tuh lage nyari guru privat buat anak nya (that's the reason she asked for Ester's number) Lalu dia mulai menceritakan kriteria guru idealnya

Tante M: Uncle, (dia manggil gw uncle?!!!!! WTF?!!!) kalo si Ms. Melati, dia ngajar nya bagus tapi galak ya

Dr. B: Hmm iya seh, Melati emank rada galak, tapi ngajar nya bagus. (dia ga tau aja kalo gw lage ngajar..........)

Tante M: Kalo saya, ga mau de anak saya guru nya galak galak. Suaranya kenceng seh gpp, tapi ga mau kalo ampe dibentak gtu. Kasian anak saya

Dr. B : (dalam hati) ya iya kalo anak loe semi malaikat, dia blom liat aja murid murid gw.....

Tante M: Eh uncle, disini ngajar nya smua kebanyakan pake pengantar nya English ya

Dr. B: Kalo saya (saya lho......) seh tergantung kebutuhan. Kalo ngajar disini, saya ga pake English tralu banyak, percuma, anak nya kaga ngerti. Boro-boro bisa English, ngajarin pake B. Ind aja kaga ngerti-ngerti, apalagi pake English

Tante M: Eh orang tua sekarang, mau nya yang ngelesin nya pake bahasa inggris. Mereka ga mau yang pake indo lagi

Dr. B: (dengan sedikit sinis) Sebenernya seh ini smua tergantung orang tua nya. Kalo druma nya sehari-hari pake bahasa inggris trus ke dua ortu nya juga bisa berbahasa inggris dengan cukup lancar, baru bisa anak nya skul en les dengan bahasa inggris 100 %. Kalo yang les disini kan ga begitu, walopun sekola nya national plus tapi sehari-hari ngomong indo en orang tua nya ngomong indo juga (uda pengen gw tereakin "druma aja pake hokian, mao anak nya sok English!!!")

Tante M: Kalo uncle bisa ngasi privat kan pake English 100%? itu bayaran nya berapa ya?

Dr. B: Kalo saya sekali dateng 150 rb

Tante M: Hah?!!! Wah mahal ya..... ga bisa kurang ya? Berati sebulan sekitar 2 juta donk?

Dr. B: Yup. Kalo saya seh rate nya segitu, ga tau de kalo orang laen

Tante M: Hmm... kalo 100 rb bisa ga?

Dr. B: Wah schedule saya uda penuh (gw uda sinis aja..... mao quality bintang 5 harga kaki lima..... tapi schedule gw emank penuh ya... jadi ga boong!)

Ada apa seh dengan orang - orang?!! Mbok ya sadar kemampuan...... ini kaya pungguk merindukan bulan... Mendidik anak-anak yang English nya lancar berat itu musti dari kecil kaleee. Emank nya dia pikir kalo anak nya disekolain di sekolah national plus, langsung anak nya jago gtu English nya? Ngaca bu........ ngomong indo aja masi pake aksen cina....

Ini adalah sindroma ibu ibu mid class yang mao anak nya super keren en jadi bule!!! IMPOSSIBLE! 99% dari anak-anak yang English nya lancar itu dateng dari kluarga yang tajir. I mean TAJIR beneran, not some mid class OKB yang sok tajir.

Kalo loe anak tajir, otomatis ortu loe tajir. Nah ortu tajir itulah yang bisa berbahasa inggris dengan baik dan benar. Kalo ortu ngomong pake inggris ma anak anak nya tiap hari, tu anak ga perlu blajar macem macem juga inggris nya uda jago en lancar. Lalu, untuk belajar bahasa inggris dengan benar dan baik itu memerlukan sumber daya yang cukup! Harga buku nya mahal bo.... jangan harap de english loe jago kalo cuma ngandelin textbook lokal... textbook import tuh minimal 70rb/buku. U need at least 3/4 books tu support ur study... uda brapa duit tuh....

Semoga ya, orang tua-orang tua yang memiliki impian setinggi bintang tu sadar.....

NATIONAL PLUS SCHOOL IS NOT A GUARANTEE THAT UR KIDS WILL BE FLUENT IN ENGLISH (apa lage national plus jadi jadian macem St. Nicholas.....)

bahkan murid gw si brandon yang notabene memenuhi smua kriteria di atas untuk dapat lancar berbahasa inggris aja kalo bikin karangan masi belepotan... padahal dia uda grade 9.... yah apa mao dikata, namanya juga bukan mother tongue...

Kairaku

The latest food joint in Muara Karang. It's a japanese five food resto (kaki lima) in front of AW Muara Karang. I don't think opening a japanese kaki lima at Muara Karang is a good idea (the last 2 kaki limas closed after about 6 months...) tapi ya sudah la.... namanya juga usaha..

1. Chicken Katsu Curry Rice (Rp. 29.000)
The curry sauce is actually quite yummy (please remember that this is a kaki lima) and the chicken katsu is hot and crispy.


2. Beef Yakiniku Set (Rp. 28.000)
The beef yakiniku uses has dalam meat chunks (i assume that's tenderloin in English). Yeah.... kinda odd but the taste is yummy. Enough meat to feed two people (pudel's capacity of course) and the miso soup is yummy although it's a little bit salty


3. Beef Teriyaki Set (Rp. 28.000)
The meat is not in chunks but more like steak like... The meat is deep fried first and then drenched in teriyaki sauce. The yakiniku tastes better but this one is also not bad.


4. Kairaku (Rp. 28.000)
It's a fushion sushi roll consists of salmon, cheese, crab meat and cucumber. WEIRD!!! It's a fried roll (never like it....)


Overall, it's too pricey!!!!!!! If the price is Rp. 5000 cheaper, maybe i'll come back more often... (No more sushi please....)

I went to this Chinese resto last night with my family for a late dinner. Actually, this is my second time. The first time, i only had a few dim sums and roasted duck and i didn't take any picture. That's why i decided to re visit this resto and make a review

1. Sup Jagung Kepiting (Rp. 38.000/pax)
The soup is quite delicious. It has lots of crab meat and uses fresh asparagus. The corn is sweet and blends in perfectly with the soup. Nice one


2. Bebek Panggang and Soya Sauce Chicken (Rp. 68. 000)
I only ordered 1/4 duck coz it comes with free soya sauce chicken. The roasted duck is really yummy. Well, of course the high-end/hotel quality ones are better but this one is better than Duck King's. The skin is crisp enough and the meat is layered with a thin fat layer. Yummy

The Soya Sauce chicken is nothing special. Delicious but that's it. Just an average 'ayam rebus'. The meat is tender although it a thick breast meat and the garlic ginger topping is perfect.


3. Sapo Tahu Seafood (Rp. 58.000)
The sapo tahu is rather disappointing. The tofu is kinda sour and there is not enough sapo sauce (I like sapo sauce....) but the quality of the seafood is superb. The fish is really delicious (there's isn't any hint of 'amis' in it. Lots of hioko mushroom (big ones) but the tofu just ruined it all.


4. Udang Mayonnaise (Rp. 68.000)
This is the star of the night. As I said, this resto has a superb quality seafood. The prawns are YUMMYLICIOUS!! Huge prawn and mayonnaise? I'll take a break from my diet.....


5. Mie Urat Sapi (Rp. 32.000)
They use Hong Kong noodle instead of the usual la mian. The noodle is good and the soup is really really good but the urat and meat are just disappointing. The urat is too chewy, i literally had to spit it out!

6. The Dim sum
I've only tasted Ha kau, Siomay and Xiao Long Bao. I think all of them is definitely yummy. Especially the Hakau.... the Xioa Long Bao is not that good. I've had better... (Din Tai Fung's is better) The meat inside the Xiao Long Bao is kinda mushy and the soup inside is rather sweet.

Definitely gonna come back for more duck and dim sum combo xD

A few days ago, there was a tragedy in Indonesia. I forgot the exact location but it's in East Java. 21 people died in a Zakat Sharing. Zakat is money given to poor people, it's a charity action by the moslems. The Zakat Sharing ended in a small scale riot and killed those people. All the casualties were women and mostly middle aged.

The Zakat was only Rp. 20.000/pax!!!!!!!!! Those people lost their life only for Rp. 20.000?!!!!! The price for burying them is a hell lot more than Rp. 20.000.... The one thing i kept on wondering, why did they keep on queueing for that small amount of money even though there were thousands of people already waiting for that money. What for?!!!!!! U spend all those time, waiting and waiting and waiting for Rp. 20.000?!! If those people work, they will get the same amount of money or maybe more. But instead of working, they'd rather wait in the heat for hours, doing nothing, just waiting for the freebie.

I actually don't know why they did that... Maybe they were too desperate or maybe lazy?

Yeah yeah.... I know I have a nice life. Not rich but definitely adequate. Maybe I can't understand the mind of the poor but one thing i know for sure, there is no such thing as geting freebie. People has to work to earn something. If u want something then do something. Even a beggar is doing something (I consider begging as a job......)

Nasi Ulam Misjaya

Located in Kota a.k.a Jakarta's China Town, Nasi Ulam Misjaya is actually a misfit. Surrounded by lots of non halal food and all those Chinese food didn't stop it from being one of the most recognized Nasi Ulam in Jakarta. It made the list of 100 best Betawi food in Jakarta (and the only nasi ulam i guess) Thanks to the chinese influence (the cook is actually chinese i guess), the taste of the nasi ulam is a little bit different than the others i've tasted before. It's definitely not as sweet as the others but it has its own characteristic. It has more chopped nuts and bigger cucumber pieces. The 'bihun' is not the same (gendut gendut apa ya english nya?) and the topping is definitely tastier. The tofu is delicious and so does the 'dendeng'. It's rather pricey for a nasi ulam (mine was Rp. 11.000) but that doesn't stop all the Misjaya fanatics.

VLY Resto

Located in Muara Karang main road, this resto offers a nice and cozy spot for a quick lunch and a late night dinner. Spacious and decorated with lots of LCD TV playing E channel and MTV, this restaurant would be perfect for a place to unwind from daily routines


The food
1. Chicken Corn Soup (Rp. 18.000)
It's kinda sweet for a corn soup (and a bit overpriced...) but not bad... A typical chinese style corn soup with kernel corn and eggs.

2. Breaded Mushroom (Rp. 20.000)
Yummylicious! Big and crispy mushroom with tartar sauce on the side. What can i say... I have a chronic weakness on mushroom..

3. Rib Eye Steak (Rp. 60.000)
Surprisingly tender. I imagined a cheap steak would be small and chewy but this one is quite nice. The mushroom sauce and the steak are not salty enough but hey... A rib eye steak for Rp. 60.000.... The french fries is yummy!!

4. Chicken Teppanyaki (Rp. 30.000)
5/6 slices of grilled chicken breast with teppan sauce. The best part is the steam rice... Weird.. The chicken itself is kinda tasteless

The plus points of this resto is the comfy couches and the cheap ice tea (Rp. 3.000). There's a crocodile fried rice on the menu, that's my next target xD

A Trip to Bogor

Yeah yeah... pasti pada mo ngoce de, ngapain ke Bogor pagi pagi?!!! Well, i wasn't jumping up and down bout this plan at first but hey, it was fun!!!

My journey started at 9 A.M, went to Ciwalit's boarding house (kamar kos bo maksud nya..) en then picked up Pudel Perek and Finally Ratu Iblis. We Left Jakarta approximately 11 A.M and went straight to Bogor. First destination.... Fishing Valley

Yeah... Fishing Valley.... Pemancingan!!!!!!!! Seumur-umur baru skarang gw ke pemancingan... And thanks to petunjuk arah yang ga jelas, kita muter-muter di tenga macet ampe 3 jem.

Petunjuk jalan: Lewati talang air Kedung Halang lalu belok kiri melewati Vila Bogor Indah.

Menurut tu orang yang bikin petunjuk, kita bisa nemuin sebuah talang air di pinggiran kota Bogor sementara kita orang Jakarta? Gebleg.... anyway.. ampe di sono skitar stega 2. Ampe sono, Dr. B shock!!! Buset.... Menurut si Ciwalit, ini adalah salah satu pemancingan baru yg hip di kalangan fisherman fisherman lokal (dia juga blom perna pege) tapi ternyata....

JOROK!!! BECEK!!!! BANYAK SERANGGA!!!! KUMUH!!!!

Akhirnya kita cuma makan doank dsono coz dia sendiri juga uda ga minat mancing pas ngeliat tempat nya... Hmm makanan nya lumayan, kita makan ber 4 abis Rp. 190.000... yah not bad la... (tetep... stela makan kangkung terasi gw beol beol...)

Lalu kita menuju downtown Bogor. Biasa.... Secara isi nya orang greedy semua, langsung nyosor ke tempat Pia Apple Pie. Denger2 seh ni tempat wuenak tenan apple pie nya.. Btw, kita bisa ampe ke sini tanpa nyasar adalah berkat temen gw si JilBoh (Jilbab heBoh) yang notabene adalah Runner up 2 Mojang Bogor 2008 dan sekarang aktif sebagai Duta Pariwisata Bogor. Thanks lho... Nah.. Back to apple pie, gw uda napsu neh secara gw doyan gtu makan pie. Tapi ternyata....

1. Chicken Pie Medium (Rp. 42.000)
Dengan size nya yang cukup huge seh emank murah, kita makan ber 4 aja ga abis.. Tapi mendingan dikasi nama tasteless egg pie de. Tawar!!!! En namanya seh chicken pie tapi isi nya telor mulu. Si Pudel uda takut aja jerawat nya kumat

2. Apple Pie Ala Mode (Rp. 22.000)
Hmm overall lumayan... tapi apple pie nya kalo ga pake es krim seh ga enak... Pie crust nya enak. Better than pie crust di kafe2 walopun Marriot punya masi menang jauh... Tapi filling nya... Nastar-like filling. Aneh....

Perjalanan kemudian berlanjut ke MP (Makaroni Panggang) yang cuma beda gang gtu... Disini gw cuma pesen 1 macem yaitu MP special medium (Rp. 85.000). Well, sangat disarankan makan dsono, coz pas gw bawa pulang kelezatan nya berkurang. Overall, lumayan... Agak aneh seh masa bikin makaroni pake jamur hioko.. next time gw bakal beli yang biasa aja. Harga nya beda stega hanya untuk smoked beef yang cuam 2 lembar plus jamur ga jelas.

En then si Ciwalit beli Lasagna Gulung. Tempat nya tetangaan ama MP cuma beda sisi doank. Nah ini aneh banget. Nama seh lasagna tapi gw ga ngerasa makan lasagna. Mungkin lebi mirip getuk yang di isi. Aduh aneh de... tapi enak!!! isi nya daging gtu trus dicampur mayo, atas nya saos tomat yang rada manis.

Dapat disimpulkan dari smua makanan yang gw coba kalo itu smua adalah makanan barat yg dimodif jadi rasa nya indonesia banget. Well.. Buat coba coba seh bole la, cuma smua nya ga tralu menarik buat gw. Untuk wisata kuliner, Bandung masi yang paling ok!

Untuk mengakhiri cerita hari ini, kita ampe di Pluit jem 8an lalu beli Kuo Tie di food court sebrang nya Emie Acuan. Nah... ini baru mantap... xD
